Hangzhou, Zhejiang Client: line+
Located at the pivotal junction of the Qiantang River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the museum's design capitalizes on its strategic location, connecting it with key urban areas of business complex. The outdoor spiral ramp and pathways attract visitors and passersby from these bustling areas, creating a continuous flow of people through the museum and its public spaces. By incorporating a rooftop observation deck accessible via public walkways, the museum offers panoramic views of the cityscape and river, enhancing the visual and experiential connection between the museum and its environment.
The facade, inspired by traditional seawall construction techniques, harmonizes with the natural and urban surroundings, creating a dynamic visual effect that reflects the flowing water.
